Review: Gazillion Bubble Show in NYC

By Nick Harper May 19, 2015
The Gazillion Bubble Show is one of the strangest, most unique and best shows I've ever seen. I have to admit I hadn't heard of this show before I was invited to see it with my three children, and I was slightly skeptical that a guy blowing bubbles for over an hour would be much of a show.

Now the biggest bubble entertainer in showbiz he’s created a show for both kids and adults alike. There really is some joyous about bubbles – and Deni Yang reinvents them with all the childish wonder imaginable.

There are bubbles of all shapes and sizes; colored ones, smoked-filled ones, even ones large enough to fit four children inside. Some of our favorites were the bubbles filled with dry ice that he blew inside other bubbles then sent flying out over the audience. At times he seemed like a mad scientist at work producing stranger and stranger bubbly creations.

At one point he created a five-layered bubble - so a bubble within a bubble within a bubble within a bubble within a bubble! On another occasion the whole stage and auditorium were filled with bubbles – bubbles everywhere! My kids were hopping around in their seats, trying to reach up to grab the bubbles above them. And there was lots of audience participation. On several occasions he got volunteers up onto the stage to help him with his latest wildest trick.

The Gazillion Bubble Show is on at New World Stages in NYC, on 50th between 8th and 9th Avenue. It’s a great underground venue with very friendly staff and ushers.

I always feel slightly wary of reviews that claim 'it's like nothing you've ever seen before'. But in this case, I really have never seen anything like it before. It will make you smile, laugh and leave the auditorium feeling incredibly happy.

And in case you're wondering, I didn't manage to count all the bubbles in this show so I'm not sure if it was quite a gazillion. But it probably wasn't too far off!

The Gazillion Bubble Show is on Thursdays (two shows), Fridays (just 7pm), Saturdays (three shows) and Sundays (two shows). It runs until September 27th 2015. Tickets cost $55-$75 plus facility fees.
