Summer Reading Programs

During the summer months, parents know how important it is to keep the kids reading. Many companies offer incentives to children who read a specific amount of books and log the books.

Barnes and Nobel offer a Summer Reading incentive; children in grades 1-6 after reading 8 books and logging them they can choose a free book from a pre-selected list. For more information please see Barnes and Nobel's website.

TD Bank offers $10 deposited into a child’s account when they read 10 books and complete a log. Simply log the books and bring to your local TD Bank. Children can open a new account at no charge if they do not already have one. More information can be found online here.

Applebee’s has a Bookworm Club, when your child completes 10 books, bring the card to your local Applebee’s (valid in NY and CT only) and receive a FREE Kid’s Meal! The card can be downloaded here if your child did not receive one at school.

Pottery Barn Kids is offering a free book after you read 14 books! The form to complete as well as other fun materials can be found here.

Sylvan Learning Centers offers a Book Adventure Club (runs all year not just over the summer!) Read books, take a short quiz and win prizes! All the information is online

Chuck E Cheese has a summer reading program where kids can earn 10 free Chuck E Cheese tokens for reading each day for 2 weeks. The reading rewards calendar as well as many others can be found here. This program also run all year long!

Leap Frog offers a great summer reading “camp” you can do at home.  Activities that entertain, motivate, and MOVE your child.  Enjoy adventures in different languages, geography, art, music, food, and more. The activities you can find online:

Some of the BEST Summer reading programs are at your local library. Almost every public library runs a different summer reading program and many have rewards and prizes for kids as well as fun free events for kids of all ages. You can find a list of local libraries in our Library Guide
